Sessions are usually 60 minutes every other week for three months. Length of session and frequency can vary based on an individual’s needs, schedule, and case complexity. A contract may be renewed for three months to resolve issues or consolidate gains. The literature supports that the robustness of the effects of coaching seems to increase with the number of coaching sessions. ”This finding corroborates research on adult learning which suggests that deeper levels of learning (e.g. transformative learning),12 only occur when there are sufficient opportunities for critical reflection and active experimentation13.
Look for a coach with experience in your industry who has expertise in your area of concern. You should look at their training and experience. You should feel a connection with the person, like their style, and feel genuinely heard. Listen to your intuition here. Education and training are also important.
